Here are a couple of Gary Sullivan’s home remedies for stubborn problems you may have around your home.
- Water rings on wood tables
Many of us have wood tables in our homes that have become blemished. The most common problem is white water rings on the surface of the tables.
This is caused by moisture from something spilled or something hot placed on the surface. The moisture or water penetrates the wax finish on the table and leaves a white residue.
In most cases this can be removed as long as it has not penetrated the actual finish on the table.
To remove these blemishes follow these steps:
- Dampen a cotton cloth and apply regular (not gel) toothpaste to the cloth and sprinkle with baking soda.
- Take the cloth and scrub over the spot in a circular motion. In most cases this will remove the ring and shine the wood table.
- Dirty glass stovetop range
Another home remedy is cleaning the glass top stove range. There are hundreds of products that say they do this task, but I have found few that actually remove cooked of food residue.
Here is an easy way to get finish the job from Gary Sullivan:
- Sprinkle baking soda on the room temperature cooking surface.
- Spray the baking soda with white vinegar (saturate it) and allow this mixture to sit for 15 minutes.
- Take a single-edge razor blade and scrape away the food residue.
- Spray the surface again with vinegar and clean the rest of the surface of the cook top.
