My son just applied your product to our pavers on the back porch. It looks great! My dogs had black prints all over it and they are gone. It only took 5 minutes instead of a 30 minute or more pressure washing job. Could you please tell me how long it takes to completely dry so my dogs can walk on it without making prints? Also, can I apply a sealer after this treatment?

Thanks so much. Love the product – we’re fans!!

      Cindy,

Thanks for your response! We always love to hear from our customers that use Wet & Forget! To answer your question: Once the Wet & Forget has dried on the surface, your dogs can walk on it with no problems. Even if the surface becomes wet after subsequent rains, it is still safe for pets. We recommend keeping pets and children off the surface just during the drying time after you first apply the product. You can seal the pavers as soon as you see that Wet & Forget has cleaned off the black or green growths.

Wet & Forget will NOT interact with or affect other products such as sealers, stains, etc. However, once you put another product on top of the Wet & Forget it will not be able to continue cleaning, which is why we recommend waiting until the Wet & Forget has had a chance to clean the surface completely.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you!

I have an english tudor style home with imitation stucco. The ‘stucco’ is actually a press-board with a textured surface to imitate stucco. The caulking is critical as I have discovered, since if allowed to get wet the material swells and gets soft. I have noticed some large areas with a blackish substance that is seeming to spread. Can I use this product? How much coverage should I expect?

    1. Wet And Forget

      Hi Bob,

Thanks for your comment. Wet & Forget is an outdoor product that can be used on real stucco as well as Dryvit and EFIS (two common types of imitation stucco). It will work on any black or green colored growths you may find on the surface (moss, mold, mildew, algae, and lichen).

If the stain is not an organic growth such as dirt or hard water stains, Wet & Forget will not work on those types of infestations. You can expect a gallon of Wet & Forget concentrate to cover 375 to 1100 square feet once diluted. When applying on synthetic stucco, you can expect a coverage close to 375 square feet because that surface will soak up a lot of product. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know. Thanks!

Hello – I live in SE Georgia, where I have applied W&F to my black concrete driveway. It has already lightened up considerably. Now I want to apply it to some teak tables & chairs in coastal Florida. This furniture has been recently cleaned w/diluted bleach, and then teak oil reapplied. It is in an outdoor covered area. I want to apply W&F to prevent mildew from returning. Can I safely do this? Great product!

      Lee,

Thanks for your inquiry! Yes, you can use Wet & Forget on teak. It will not harm the surface. Wet & Forget was primarily developed to clean moss, mold, mildew and algae from outdoor surfaces. It will probably help keep these areas clean once applied longer than a bleach solution would. So yes, Wet & Forget will work for this application.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know. Thanks!

I am about to repaint my house. I have some areas where mold is coming through the old paint. How would I use your product in this application?

    Thank you,
    Ron

    1. Wet And Forget

      Ron,

Thanks for writing in! Wet & Forget can only work on mold that is on top of the painted surface. If the mold is coming through the paint, this means that the mold was there prior to painting and has been sealed underneath. Wet & Forget cannot penetrate the old paint to resolve this problem.

In your situation to remove the underlying mold you would need to remove the old paint, treat the surface with Wet & Forget, and then re-paint once the mold has been cleaned off. You can also treat the newly painted surface with Wet & Forget if you have any mold problems in the future. Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks!

I’ve read your web page; I’ve watched the video; but I still have questions. What if it doesn’t rain after applying? What if it’s 8-10 days after application, then dry again another 2 wks? If Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate then how does it work?

We have our homes (condo association) all power washed every third or forth year; how would you apply up high? We would still have to hire someone to get up high – and someone to apply all over the homes as the residents don’t do this type of work themselves. So what’s the advantage to us to use your product?

How many gallons to do an average 2300 sf home, with two stories?

Your video showed a white painted railing – what about a railing of treated lumber?

      Norma,

Thanks for your comment! I’ll try to answer all of your questions.

      – Wet & Forget works when it comes in contact with the wind and the rain. If you are not going to get rain for several weeks or days, that is fine. The Wet & Forget will still work when it comes in contact with rain at a later date. If you are not going to get rain for several months, then you would have to help it along by getting water on the surface every couple of weeks.

      – For larger buildings, such as condo associations, you can apply by having someone on the roof using a pump up garden sprayer or backpack sprayer. You can also use a commercial agricultural sprayer with a diaphragm pump system (commonly used for landscaping applications). Your association may already have one that they use for landscaping.

      – To cover a 2,300 square foot roof, you would need about three and a half gallons of Wet & Forget concentrate.

      – You can use Wet & Forget on any outdoor surface where you have moss, mold, mildew and algae growth, including treated lumber.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you!

Hi, I have some black and green algae on one wall of my stucco house. It does not get rain on it, so if I spray on the Wet & Forget then how long do I leave it before I wet it down with water? and how often after that should I wet it? thanks! Barb

    1. Wet And Forget

      Hi Barb,

Thanks for your inquiry. In order to use Wet & Forget in an area that is not exposed directly to rainfall you would need to be able to spray down the area with water about every week to week-and-a-half, starting one week after application. This will simulate natural rainfall. You will need to continue doing this until the mold and mildew is gone. Wet & Forget is specifically formulated for, and works best on, outdoor surfaces exposed to the elements such as wind and rain. That is why additional assistance is needed on covered outdoor surfaces. If you have any further questions or concerns, let us know. Thanks!

We have used Wet & Forget on our log house, but it is risky to climb a ladder to get to the higher parts of the walls and the soffit using a pump-up sprayer. Can Wet & Forget be applied with a hose end sprayer? If so, which sprayers do you recommend that will give us the 1:5 ratio of product to water you recommend? This would allow us to reach the higher parts of our house much more safely.

    Reply
    1. Wet And Forget

      Hi Joel,
Thanks for your writing in. Unfortunately, there is not a hose end sprayer that can get the 1:5 dilution rate needed to apply Wet & Forget. We recommend using a pump up garden sprayer where you can mix the proper dilution. For higher areas, there are backpack sprayers available. You can also use agricultural diaphragm pump sprayers to reach higher areas if you have access to them. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
      Thanks!

What about removing tree sap from the exterior sandstone on the front of my house? Over the last 50 something years the sandstone has turned dark and stained from algae, tree sap, and I’m not sure what else. The sandstone exterior of my house is a huge fireplace chimney and wall. Will Wet and Forget work on this?

      Hi Polly,

Wet & Forget will work great on the algae that is on your house that is made up of sandstone and brick. Wet & Forget is a gentle product that works with the outside elements (rain/wind) to remove the moss, mold, mildew, and algae stains from your surface.

It will not remove the tree sap/dirt. If you have any further questions please let us know. Thanks!

I live in Southern California where we don’t get much rain. Is this still going to work? Is it safe to spray where my kids play?

    1. Wet And Forget

      Hi Michelle,

Thank you for writing in! Wet & Forget is designed to work with the outside elements (rain/wind) to clean your surface. Since you do not get much rain, we would recommend spraying water on the surface once a week, starting a week after your initial application. This process will stimulate the rainfall. You would need to continue doing this until the growth is gone.

We recommend keeping people and pets off of the surface during the application of Wet & Forget and during the drying time (4-5 hours). After that, people and pets return to the surface with no issues. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you!

How should moss growing on Indoor/Outdoor carpeting on a porch deck be treated and will it affect the color of the carpet? Does the moss have to FIRST be removed by other means? The moss is at least a half an inch high and rooted in the threads of the carpet where dirt and moisture has accumulated just under the bottom of the banister railing.

    1. Wet And Forget

      Hi David,

Thank you for writing in! You can use Wet & Forget on your outdoor carpet that is exposed to the rain and wind. In extreme cases of growth, you would want to apply the Wet & Forget to the surface and then agitate the area with a brush to loosen up the growth. Once it is dry let the outside elements take care of the surface.

Wet & Forget is a gentle product that has a pH 8 which is almost neutral and it will not affect the color of your carpet. When applying the Wet & Forget make sure that the surface is dry. After you apply the Wet & Forget to the surface you want to allow it to dry (4-5 hours) before it rains. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you!

      Hi Jon,
Thanks for your question about using Wet & Forget around plants. When applying Wet & Forget to the surface, the runoff into surrounding soil will not harm plants. However, when you are spraying Wet & Forget we recommend to protect your nearby plants/grass from overspray by rinsing them down before and after you apply the Wet & Forget with water. You can also cover nearby plants during the Wet & Forget application to protect them from overspray. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

Can I use Wet & Foget on my sailboat canvass? I have a dodger & bimini (like a windshield & awning but you’re from NZ so you probably know what I’m talking about!) that are made of canvass & have isenglass (plastic) windows. Is it OK to use W&F on the canvass? Will W&F harm the plastic windows? How about overspray on the fiberglass deck of the boat? Also, your web site mentions using W&F on sails. How do you suggest we allow them to be exposed to rain, etc after application, since we normally avoid sailing in stormy conditions?

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

      Hi Ted,

Thanks for contacting us with your questions. Wet & Forget is safe to use on any outdoor surface where you have moss, mold or mildew. Yes, you can use it on all parts of your boat canvas, fiberglass, plastic windows, and sails. Wet & Forget has a pH of 8, which means it is a gentle product and will not harm any surface you apply it to on your boat. The normal contact with water, rain or spray from the water you are sailing in will help the Wet & Forget work. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

I have not yet tried Wet & Forget but from what I’ve seen & read, it looks like a good product.
My question is, the area where I have the worst problem is the soffit under my roof overhang. It’s aluminum ventilated material, which is suppose to be white. It is now mostly black alge/moss.
Since the area is not subject to the elements such as rain & wind, will your product do the job?

    Thanks, Randy

I have a Garapa exotic wood deck. After installation it was sanded and then Rymar Exotic Forest Wood Sealer applied. The second coat of sealer was put on 4 months following the first coat as recommended. But now, 6 months later the deck has mold/mildew developing on most of the boards. I do not want to pay to have this new deck sanded down and was wondering if Wet and Forget would be a safe product for this decking material. Thanks for your help! Sally Nisley

I have a couple of questions
    1. I would like to use your product on Mexican fossil limestone that is in my garden. It is used in a pattern with grass towing in between in a checkerboard pattern with grass in between. I live in a florida and the stones become slick and dangerous to walk on during the summer. I am very excited about your product as it could solve so many problems for me! In a this situation, once I apply wet and forget, will I kill the grass in between? The grass is in 3″ strips between the 24″ x 12″ pavers. If I hose off the grass after applying in these small areas, will I wash off the stones? I usualy clean them by applying full strength bleach with a paint brush– a very laborious job but I don’t kill the grass this way.

    2. I like would like to use the product on oak adirondack chairs that have silvered and have a more powdery kind of growth, no algea. Will Wet and Forget harm them and will it help?

    3. I would also like to use it on the underside of a tin roof screened porch. It is south facing so its cool in the morning with the constant Florida along with the direct extreme heat above causes sweaing and the it grows mold/mildew on the “ceiling” underneth side. The post, beams and underside of the metsl roof of the porch are all
exposed and painted white, so this staining is so hard to control. Will the product work in this area?

I appreciate your responses and look forward to using a product that will help eliminate some of the constant maintenance I have to do, I’ll report back on the results!

      Hi Lisa,
Thanks for the follow up question regarding your Mexican fossil stone patio. I understand your unique situation of having mold and mildew on stones that needs to be cleaned separated by grass areas you want to preserve. For areas where you need to control the overspray of the Wet & Forget very carefully, we would recommend applying on a calm day without much wind and keeping the nozzle of the pump up sprayer close to the stone surface when spraying. You can also take a piece of cardboard and shield the grass areas from overspray when you apply the Wet & Forget. It might be a better solution for your unique situation. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

      Hi Mark,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. We recommend keeping people and pets off of the concrete steps while you are applying Wet & Forget and during the drying time (4-5 hours after application). Once the Wet & Forget has dried, people and pets can walk on the surface, even if it gets wet from subsequent rainfall. You do not need to worry about the Wet & Forget getting on their paws and feet or being tracked into the house. If you have any further questions, please let us know.

      Hi Ginny,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Wet & Forget is designed to work on organic growths such as moss, mold, mildew and algae. If you have a mold or mildew causing the browning due to concrete area being shaded by the trees, then Wet & Forget can help. If the browning is due to tree sap or other reasons, Wet & Forget will not be able to clean those stains. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

I’ve used Wet and Forget before on my deck and siding and loved the results. Now I want to use it again in preparation for re-staining my deck. I’d like to allow the minimal amount of time the product needs to work, though, so I can finish the staining this fall. So what I’d like to do is apply the W & F, allow a week or so, and then assist it with pressure washing before re-staining. Is that sufficient time for it to kill mold/mildew spores, etc.?
    Thanks,
    Garry

      Hi Garry,

Thanks for contacting us with your question. As you know, Wet & Forget is a gentle product that takes time to work. Usually, a green mold or mildew cleanup takes 3-4 weeks or less. The average time for cleanup on a black mold and mildew takes 6-8 weeks. The time-frame depends on how severe a moss, mold or mildew problem you have on the deck and how much rainfall you are getting. You can assist the Wet & Forget with a light power washing once it has been on the surface for a week or two if you want. Regardless, make sure the moss, mold and mildew has been removed from the deck before you re-stain so that you are not staining in any mold or mildew. If you have any further questions, please let us know.

I applied W&F to my cedar siding 3 wks ago to some black mold areas. I can see that it is starting to work as the black areas are now patchy and not solid. Is this the way it works and should I apply a second application for good measure? The stain is only a few years old in shady an area that does not get a lot of sun and I hated to re-stain the whole side so this works great for me.

      Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for writing in with your question. Wet & Forget is a gentle product that takes time to work. On green colored mold and mildew growths, cleaning time takes 3-4 weeks. On black mold and mildew, it takes on average 8 weeks. The lightening you are seeing at 3 weeks is normal and a good sign that the product is starting to clean off the black mold.

If you applied the product correctly with a pump up sprayer, and the cedar siding is exposed to the rain, you do not need to re-apply. Wet & Forget works with the rain over time to clean off the surface. If the area is not exposed to the rain, you will need to water it down on a weekly basis with your pump sprayer or garden hose to simulate natural rainfall. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.

Looks like a great product. Can it be applied to aluminum or vinyl siding during the winter? It’s December here in the midwest, but I’ll have a few days with temps in the mid 50’s when I can apply it. Thanks!

      Hi Mike,
Yes, Wet & Forget can be used on any exterior surface where you have moss, mold or mildew – including vinyl and aluminum siding. All you need is an afternoon where the temperature is above 32 degrees during the application and drying time. Drying time usually takes about 4 to 5 hours on average. Once the Wet & Forget has dried, temps can dip below 32 and it will not affect the cleaning process. The best part about fall and winter application is that all the snow, wind and rain assists the cleaning process.
