Wet & Forget Testimonials
I just love the product. It worked wonderfully on my recycled plastic LL Bean adirondack chairs and my vinyl sided house. I first learned about it from the Paul Parent garden show. I’ve used up most of my first container and will soon be getting another. I’ve told pretty much everyone I know how fabulous it is. Several co-workers have also purchased this product thanks to my recommendation.

Did you ever hear about a product but think ‘if it sounds too good to be true, it is’? Well after using a lot of elbow grease and homemade mixtures with limited success over the years, we asked a rep from Wehrungs (Ottsville, PA) what we could do about a green staining that kept appearing on the north side of our cedar siding. We have a beautiful, 4,000 sq ft home that we have tried to maintain in top shape, but since it is in the woods, the molds have always been a challenge. Lo & behold, your product almost instantly provided a cure. We then also used it on our decks with success! Thank you for the good result.

Yesterday we applied your product for the first time. Our relatively new flagstone patio (about 1 year old) was showing some greenish mold/mildew especially in the grout lines. A hand-held pressure sprayer was used to put a fine mist over the entire patio. This morning, just 24 hours later, ALL the green was gone! We had not expected such quick results. The label on the back of the container cautioned that some stains may take months to disappear. Your website indicates 1-2 weeks would be optimum. Either we are very lucky or your product is darn good stuff! It not merely meets but exceeds what it claims to do.

Your product is fantastic! I used it to remove mildew that accumulates on the top of my Cool Deck TM pool deck. The mildew is gone by the time the product has dried and I simply brush the rest of the dirt away. I’m a life-long customer.

I have a 2 year old boat in Florida. All the exterior cushions were getting black mold spots. 3 weeks after using wet and forget 95% of the spots are gone. Great product!!!
-Howard H.
Wet & Forget really works. I followed the use instructions and the results convinced me. I have recommended this product to my friends and contractors.

A wonderful product. We loved your label asking us to please follow the directions — which we did and the product took the mold off our siding. It rained a day after we applied it (weather forecast did not mention rain). At any rate, even with the rain it worked wonderfully.
We would recommend this to everyone.

This product is fantastic. I have a large pond in my backyard which creates a lot of moisture for mold and mildew. It worked as states. Sprayed it on my driveway, patio and deck. In a few hours it was gone. Finally someone made something that works as advertised.

I just used Wet & Forget for the first time and it worked really well. Love your product and will definitely buy the bigger bottle next time! Well worth the money!

I’ve been trying EVERYTHING to get rid of the moss between our brick pavers and one application of Wet & Forget took care of the problem! No more scraping out moss with a screwdriver. My mother read about the product in the local newspaper; I couldn’t be happier that she told me about it or I wouldn’t have known about Wet & Forget.
-Sheri D.
We used Wet & Forget on wood stairs at my mother’s home 3 blocks from the ocean. We were ready to sand and repaint due to excessive green and black mildew discoloration, but decided to give Wet & Forget a try first. Within a week the stairs were clean and free of mildew thanks to Wet & Forget. We had no further work to do!

Dear Wet & Forget,
I’ve been meaning to drop you a line and tell you how much I love your products. I had several places on the North side of the house were moss has accumulated on my cement steps. I have tried bleach water and various other things over the past years. I gave it a big dose of your product (following the directions of course) and waited to see what would happen. Nothing! Then all of the sudden to my happy surprise, it disappeared. This product is a marvel. I don’t care how it works, just that it does. I secretly doused my daughter’s cement entry way stairs last summer and waited for her to try and figure out what happened. We both love it! The word is out from us.
Thank you,

Thank you for your miracle product-Wet It and Forget It. For years, I’ve been dealing with green mold on my deck where the sun doesn’t shine. I didn’t believe something like Wet & Forget would work, but WOW! Should always have more on hand! It’s an amazing product!

I have moss that grows up between the paving stones on my patio. I have tried several products to kill this moss, but Wet & Forget works better than anything else I’ve tried.
-Keith M.
As a first time user, I am totally impressed by the speed and thoroughness of your product. I sprayed my old house’s driveway and sidewalks with your product and in a matter of a couple days nothing that had been sprayed showed any sign of the mold and algae that was there originally. Since the house is currently on the market it’s a big help that it now looks “sparkling” from the street.

Is Wet and Forget safe to use on composite decking?
Hi Chris,
Thanks for your question! Wet & Forget can indeed be used on composite decking. Here’s a blog post we wrote on that exact topic.
Can I Use Wet & Forget on Composite Decking?
If you’d like to find a store near you that carries Wet & Forget, just visit our store locator. Let us know if you have any other questions!
Is Wet and Forget the same as Spray and Forget? I’ve used Spray and Forget and it worked great but would be more economical to use Wet and Forget.
Thanks for your inquiry! Wet & Forget and Spray and Forget are not the same products. They are two different companies. Wet & Forget has been used around the world for over 30 years. It is a gentle product with a pH of 8 and specifically formulated for cleaning moss, mold, mildew and algae from all outdoor surfaces.
Wet & Forget is EPA registered and safe to use on any outdoor surface. All you need to do is spray it on and walk away. The product works with the wind and rain to gently clean the surface. To find a store near you that carries Wet & Forget please visit our store locator! If you have any further questions, please let us know.
Will your product remove lichen from an asphalt shingle roof?
BJ,
Wet & Forget will indeed remove lichen from an asphalt shingle roof. However, the application instructions are different. Since lichen is a tougher growth, you will need to spray the area twice. Dilute the Wet & Forget as instructed on the bottle, then spray the affected area, wait 15 minutes, then spray the area again. This double application is required when treating lichens in order to clean the surface properly.
I have a summer cottage with a deck with green tinges in numerous places. It is pressure treated wood.(about 10 yrs old) I have taken regular, annual, care by power washing, and protecting it with Cabot’s clear #3000. I am wondering if I can paint (acrylic) over your product, or if I should power wash it, paint it, THEN use Wet & Forget?
Thanks for your advice.
Hi John,
Thanks for your inquiry! Wet & Forget can be used to clean moss, mold or mildew from pressure treated wood before painting, or to clean painted surfaces that have moss, mold or mildew on them. If you use Wet & Forget as a cleaner prior to painting, be sure to let the Wet & Forget clean off all the moss and mold before putting on your new coat of paint. If you paint before the moss and mold are gone, the Wet & Forget will not be able to work from underneath the new paint layer. As soon as the surface comes as clean as you want it to be, you can go ahead and paint. Wet & Forget will not interact or damage the new paint layer.
You can also use Wet & Forget to clean painted surfaces when you start to see moss, mold and mildew appear. With a pH of 8, Wet & Forget will not harm the paint. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
I bought Wet and Forget to use on my badly mildewed waterfall in my back yard I wanted to put it on before i leave the 17th for two weeks but it looks like from the directions that it will take a long time to work. Does that mean I will have to leave my waterfall turned off for a few months? Will the water wash away the chemicals after it’s been working for 3 weeks?
Hi Ed,
Thank you for writing in! When applying Wet & Forget to outdoor water features or fountains there are a few simple steps to follow.
Step 1: Turn off the water supply on the fountain or feature.
Step 2: Allow the parts of the structure that you want to treat with Wet & Forget to dry completely.
Step 3: Apply the Wet & Forget to the structure.
Step 4: Allow the Wet & Forget to dry (usually takes 4-5 hours)
Step 5: Turn the water supply back on.
The water in the fountain will work with the Wet & Forget to clean off any moss, mold, mildew, and algae that you have on the structure. For green moss and mold you can expect the cleaning process to take 3-4 weeks. For black mold or mildew you can expect the cleaning process to take a little bit longer. We would not recommend using the Wet & Forget on your water feature if you have fish in your outdoor fountain. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you!
I put Wet & Forget on the water feature and left the water off for three weeks while we were on vacation. When I came home it was almost completely gone and what little black algae that was left i turned the high pressure hose on it and most of it came off! I’m very impressed because that stuff was on there good.
For the few areas that are still a little stubborn, should I hit it again or just wait?
Thanks
Ed
Hi Ed,
Thanks for writing in and telling us about your experience with Wet & Forget! You did everything correctly with your Wet & Forget application. If you still have mold or mildew remaining, you can, but do not need to re-apply. Black colored mold and mildew takes longer than the green mold and mildew to clean up. The usual expectation for black mold and mildew is at least 8 weeks to see it come clean. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
Another question:
What about a small pond? If i empty it and let it dry completely, can I use W&F in it to remove all the black that has built up over the years? When can I refill it? After I start seeing results or as soon as the W&F dries?
Hi Ed,
Thanks for sending in another great question! Yes, you can use Wet & Forget to clean moss, mold, or mildew from landscaping pond structures. Follow the following procedure: drain the water out of the pond fixture, apply Wet & Forget, let the Wet & Forget dry (1-2 days), and then fill the pond fixture with water again. Be sure that your pond fixture does not contain any fish. We would not recommend using Wet & Forget to clean any type of landscaping pond structure that contains fish. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you!
I have a condo in which the entire complex has dark mold streaking down a large percentage of the stucco and areas under the decks etc. If I were to buy your product in quantity is there a price break and (I’m sure it is) is your product up to the job? I used it on my waterfall and it worked great.

The moss that I have is on the ground, will the product work there?
Hi Jim,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Wet & Forget is designed and formulated to work on outdoor surfaces such as roofing, siding, decking, awnings, canvas, etc. If the moss problem you have is on an hard, outdoor surface you can use Wet & Forget on the area. If your moss problem is located in your lawn, or turf, we would not recommend using Wet & Forget to treat the moss problem. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
Thank you!
I have a brick home which is close to 50 years old. I have removed most of the old tams (horrid evergreen shrubs) finding old baseballs, dead cats and the like… Anyway, there are dark spots on the brick where these shrubs used to be. I’ve been told that the stain was most likely caused by pesticide usage over the years…could also be caused by sprinklers..Anyway, obviously, my question is, will this product work for me?
We use Wet and Forget on Trex composite decking, which had very heavy mildew stains. Nothing would touch it. Applied Wet & Forget twice a year, the staining is all but totally gone. It’s a miracle. Warning: it doesn’t work over night, it takes about one season to remove the mildew. Then again, there is no work involved! Just mix it up, spray it on, let it dry and you are done! Use it twice a year every year and you will have a good looking composite deck.
Thanks so much for the kind words, David!
We always enjoy seeing photos of the work Wet & Forget has done, so we’d love to see an image or two of your cleaned composite deck in the future!
Hi Tom,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. The black spots you have on the wall could be moss, mold, or mildew that has built up over the years. If it is moss, mold, or mildew, Wet & Forget can clean it up for you. If the stains are not from organic growths, Wet & Forget will not be able to help. The good news is, Wet & Forget is a gentle product with a pH of 8, so you can apply it to the surface and it will not harm it. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
I have a slate roof on my 1926 built home in Westchester, New York that was covered with black mold streaks. Last year, I applied Wet & Forget- and it absolutely worked in removing the streaks over the course of a year.
However, I have an application problem.
The pressure sprayer I used did not have enough power to spray the solution over the upper parts of the roof. I dont know how to mix your product with a garden hose spray attachment or a high pressure washer attachment. Do you have any suggestions, other than hiring someone to climb on a very steep roof?
Hi Don,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. If a pump up garden sprayer will not meet your needs, there are backpack sprayers available at your local hardware store that you can use. If you have access to a commercial agricultural sprayer, or tank sprayer with an attached motor that can reach higher areas, that will work as well. Using a power washer is not ideal, but it can be done if you dilute the Wet & Forget in a large, separate container first. Then put the hose for the incoming water source into the container of mixed solution instead of hooking it up to your water connection. This option is not the best because you will run through the Wet & Forget mixture pretty quickly as it is pulled through the pressure washer. Hiring someone to apply to the high areas of the roof is always an option as well. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
I used Wet and Forget on my vinyl siding 2 days ago because there were a lot of green areas on the north side of the house (not sure whether that’s algae, mold, etc). Yesterday the green was gone and in its place was black, though not as noticeable as the green was. The black is still there. It’s hard to tell if the black is disappearing, though some may be. Is going from green to black normal? And how long will it take the black to go away? Thanks.
Hi Hank,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Yes, the reaction you are seeing is completely normal for the Wet & Forget cleaning process. After spraying Wet & Forget on green mold or mildew on the surface, you will see it turn black within a few days. This means the Wet & Forget has started to work on the green growth. The wind and the rain will remove the remaining black parts of the growth over the next few weeks and your surface will be clean. The Wet & Forget cleaning process does not contain bleach or caustic chemicals, which means it takes some time to work. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
It’s now a month after my first email and the black areas haven’t changed. With rain once a week, and warm dry weather most of the time, I would have expected some positive change based on your reply. Please advise. Thanks
Hi Hank,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Wet & Forget is a gentle cleaning process that takes time to work. For areas where you have green mold and mildew, you can expect the process to take on average 3-4 weeks as long as you are getting some good rainfall. For areas where you have black mold and mildew, you can expect the process to take on average 2 months as long as you are getting some good rainfall. To assist the process, you can water down the area with your garden hose or pump up sprayer to simulate natural rainfall. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
Can this product be used to clean the mold off of the rubber boot around the door of my front load G,E. washing machine, and if not do you sell another product that can be used? I don’t
want to damage the boot, its quiet expensive.
Thanks,
Bob Chicago,IL
Hi Bob,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Wet & Forget is specifically formulated for use on outdoor surfaces. It requires contact with the wind and rain in order to work properly. We would not recommend using Wet & Forget indoors on your GE washing machine. We would recommend contacting GE for a recommendation on cleaning the mold from the rubber boot. If you have any further questions, please let us know.
We have a shed at our cottage and due to flooding conditions the cement floor and wood frame walls have been under 5 inches of water for approx.14 days. The water has now gone down and it is time to start our clean up to get rid of any mold or other gunk that may cause problems in the future. can you advise if Wetandforget will do the job for us or do you have any other recommendations. Thanks in advance for your prompt reply. Regards Larry
Can Wet & Forget be used on interior mold as well as exterior mold?
Hi Gloria,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Wet & Forget is specifically formulated for outdoor use only. It needs contact with the wind and rain in order to work properly. We would not recommend using Wet & Forget indoors. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
Hi Larry,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Wet & Forget is specifically formulated for outdoor use only. It needs contact with the wind and rain in order to work properly. If the flooring and wood frame walls have mold and mildew on the outside from the recent flooding you can definitely use it on those areas. If you have mold and mildew on the interior walls and flooring, we would not recommend using Wet & Forget, as it will not be in contact with the wind and rain and not work indoors. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
We have black mold on many surfaces of our home – the vinyl siding, facia, soffits, rain gutters, etc. and even on the asphalt shingles. Does it work on this ugly stuff? Also, is it necessary to cover every square inch of a surface? Thanks!
Hi Bill,
Thanks for contacting us with your questions. Yes, you can use Wet & Forget on the vinyl siding, facia, soffits, rain gutters, and asphalt shingles of your home to clean off the black mold and mildew. Wet & Forget is a gentle product with a pH of 8 and will not harm any of these surfaces. We do recommend treating the entire affected surfaces with Wet & Forget because you probably have mold spores that you can’t readily see. For example, if you have mold on the north side of your roof, we would recommend spraying the entire north side of the roofing. This will ensure you get all the mold, both the spots you can and cannot see.
Wet & Forget works with the wind and rain to gently clean mold and mildew from outdoor surfaces. For areas that are not exposed to direct rainfall (soffits, facia, etc.) we recommend spraying the areas down with water every 1 to 2 weeks to simulate the natural rainfall. You can do these waterings using your pump up sprayer or garden hose, a pressure washer is not required. If you have any further questions, please let us know.
In our front yard our bushes by the house have red lava rock surrounding them and are covered in moss. Would it harm the bushes and flowers to spray Wet and Forget on the rocks? Thanks.
Hi Deb,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Yes, you can use Wet & Forget on outdoor landscaping stone. However, we would recommend protecting plants and flowers from overspray by covering them when you apply the Wet & Forget. We do not recommend spraying Wet & Forget directly on plants. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
Just read through everyone’s questions (and your answers). I was hoping I could use Wet & Forget inside on my fiberglass shower where black mold is growing in the seams. Please come up with a “fix” like Wet & Forget for indoor use! All the expensive “removers” have not solved the problem
Hi Verna,
Thanks for writing in with your questions about Wet & Forget Moss, Mold, Mildew & Algae Stain Remover. Wet & Forget is designed for outdoor use only, and we would not recommend using it indoors in your shower. Thanks for your feedback and comments!
Does “Wet and Forget” get rid of artillery fungus (black mold spores) that attaches to light colored vinyl siding? Please send answer via my e-mail address.
Thanks,

Hi, I have many plants, trees, and shrubs surrounding my deck.
Will W&F harm the plants and flowers?
Hi Donna,
Thanks for writing in with your question. When applying Wet & Forget to your deck, we recommend protecting all plants from overspray. You can cover the plants during application, or rinse the plants before and after with clear water. This will rinse off any overspray that might have fallen on the leaves, or foliage of the plants. Wet & Forget is not strong enough to kill plants, but it can cause temporary brown spotting on the leaves if you spray it directly on the leaves or foliage. Since Wet & Forget is biodegradable, runoff will not harm the soil. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
Hi Linda,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Unfortunately, artillery fungus is the one type of mold that Wet & Forget will not work on. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
I have about 80 feet of north facing 6 foot wood privacy fence that is as green as if I had sprayed it with paint. It looks pretty bad. I’ve been looking for a something such as Wet and Forget for several years, but all I’ve been able to find are products containing bleach and which require a power washer or scrubbing. I have gardens along the fence, and I see from other replies that you recommend either rinsing plants before and after application, or covering the plants. I assume something like a plastic painters drop cloth would work well to protect the plants. However, I would prefer the washing method if I can rely on it to do the job.
Hi Lyle,
Thanks for writing in with your questions. In your situation, it would be best to cover the plants with a plastic drop cloth or tarp to protect them since they are right up against the fence. Wet & Forget will not soak through the plastic to the plants, but I would be careful as you move the tarp along, that it does not drip onto the plants. If the overspray drips onto the plants, it can cause temporary brown spotting on the foliage.
Depending on where you are located in the country, another option for you may be to apply the Wet & Forget in the late fall or after the foliage and plants have been cut back for the season and is done blooming. This would make it easier to cover any remaining foliage with a plastic drop cloth. Since you can apply Wet & Forget at any temperature above 32 degrees, a fall or winter application might be best for your situation.
Does wet and Forget work on rust stains?
Hi David,
Thanks for writing in with your question! Wet & Forget is designed to work on organic growths only (moss, mold, mildew and algae). It will not work on rust stains. If you have further questions, please let us know.
This product is truly the best thing since sliced bread! I have composite decking in Oregon and used to fight black mold and mildew every spring for summer use. I used outdoor bleach, almost straight up, and although it worked for the most part, it was dangerous for pets and plants, stank, and I had to brush it on and in. Wet and Forget really works if you use it as directed and have patience–that is, apply it in October and March (at least in Oregon)and, in my case, use a double dose (a day or two apart). Now I only have to clean dirt, not mold and mildew. It’s a life and time saver.
I have a new pressure treated deck. It was installed in June, 2012 and has not yet been stained, (we were told by the folks at TWP that it’s best to wait up to one year before staining with their product onto PT wood. So a few of the boards have developed black stains which look like mold to me. Can I use Wet and Forget on these and if I do only put on the discolored boards will my staining in June of next year be affected on those boards?
Hi Ron,
Wet & Forget isn’t going to effect the wood stain. We recommend applying to the entire surface, not just the boards that can be seen by the eye as having mold. You wouldn’t want to apply a stain over a growth, even if it’s at a microscopic size. After the Wet & Forget has removed the growths and restored your deck, you are completely fine to apply a stain. Thanks for commenting!
I have a patio paved with common house bricks. The shady areas are covered with a green moss. Will wet and forget work on this type of brick?
Hi Bob,
Wet & Forget will work great on bricks with moss. Completely saturate the entire brick surface, especially the moss, with Wet & Forget. Over time, the moss will turn brown and lighten up. After time and rain, the moss will be completely removed. Thanks for asking.
Questions: Can you power wash slimey cement first and then apply Wet and Forget to keep it clean (and get also ride of spots we missed when we power washed)? Is it safe for dogs? We have a cement dog run on the north side of house that has green slime what gets on the dog’s feet–which is the reason why we want to power wash first. (I don’t think we can wait a few weeks for the slime to go away because she tracks it into the house!) Would the instructions be the same if we used it as a mold retardant? (We would also use it on other the cement walkways that surround the house without power washing.)
Hi Kathy,
First off, Wet & Forget is pet safe. During application while the surface is still wet, you want to keep people and pets off the surface, once it’s dried, it’s fine to be walked on. You can power wash all the heavy stuff off first and then let dry and apply wet & forget to the dry surface. You could also apply the wet & forget, wait a week or so for the product to work and then hit it with a power washing to wash away all the dead growth. Either way would work for you as the wet & forget will be absorbed to the surface and keep the surface clean for up to a year. Your cement walkways will stay clean for up to a year. Most of our customers apply once a year however in Illinois you can get by once every 2 to 3 years depending on surrounding trees and what kind of a summer we have. Thanks for commenting.
Will W&F remove the black stains on my ashalt roof?
Hi Ed,
Wet & Forget WILL remove the black stains on your asphalt roof. What you want to do is apply with a garden pump sprayer. So, mix 20oz of wet & forget per gallon of water and apply on a day when your roof is dry and you’re not expecting heavy rainfall. You want to apply to the entire roof rather than spot treat so you can sanitize and control the contamination. After you apply and the product has dried for a day or two, what you want is lots of rain. What happens is the Wet & Forget is breaking down the growth that causes those black streaks. As the growth breakdown it’s dead layer is washed away by the rain. This process will continue and clean your roof on it’s own, it may take some time in the months range but after you apply there’s no scrubbing or power washing. If you have any more questions feel free to reply. Thanks for commenting.
Is it 20 oz per gallon of water for the asphalt black stains or the usual 5:1 ratio? Thanks.
Hi Ed,
Filling your sprayer with 20oz of Wet & Forget and then filling to the 1 gallon mark on your sprayer will give you the 5:1 ratio. This is the mixing ratio that we recommend on our bottle and for any surface. If you have very tough stains we have recommended a 3:1 ratio before, but anything stronger than that will not increase the efficacy of the product. Thanks for asking.
