Q: Can I use Wet & Forget in the fall or do I have to wait until spring?
A: Wet & Forget will work at any temperature above 32 degrees, which means applying in the fall is great because you have your fall rain showers to look forward to. If at any time during the winter you have higher temperatures and contact with rain, the product will continue to clean. If you have snow in your area, the product will continue working in the spring.

Can I use Wet and Forget on my cedar shake roof with no negative effects?
Hi John,
Thanks for writing in with your question. Wet & Forget is a gentle product with a pH of 8 which means you can use it on any outdoor surface including cedar shake shingles. Wet & Forget will not damage the surface. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you
We just moved into a new house and the brick exterior is badly stained and looks horrible! Obviously, I am eager to get the removal process started. We live in the Chicago area so may only have a few days here and there above freezing before the Spring. Can I use Wet and Forget in the winter or do I need to wait until the spring?
Thanks so much for your help!
Hi Erin,
Thanks for writing in with your question. You can use Wet & Forget at any temperature above 32 degrees, as long as there is not snow on the surface. It is only required that the temperature is above 32 degrees when you apply Wet & Forget and while it dries. Drying time is usually 4-5 hours. Once the Wet & Forget has been applied to the surface and dried, the temps can dip below 32 degrees with no issues. Here is a link to an article on our blog that talks about applying Wet & Forget in the fall: Snow/Cold Weather. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
Thank you.
I have bamboo canes that were used outdoors in the fall to form a natural roof for a garden structure. We usually put them away after a few days, but this year, there was a big storm while they were still up, and by the time everything dried, there were black mold/mildew spots all over the bamboo. I’m wondering if Wet & Forget is safe to use on Bamboo? Please email me if you have any suggestions.
Thanks.
Deborah
Hi Deborah,
Thanks for contacting us regarding your question about using Wet & Forget on your outdoor bamboo canes. Yes, Wet & Forget can be used on bamboo canes. Wet & Forget is a gentle product with a pH of 8, which makes it safe to use on any outdoor surface where you have moss, mold or mildew problems. Remember, Wet & Forget works gently over time with the rain, so you will need to be able to leave the bamboo canes outdoors, exposed to the rain and elements. You can also spray the bamboo canes with water every week or two to simulate rainfall if you are in a dry climate or not expecting rainfall for some time. If you have any further questions, please let us know.
Thank you!
Hi, I have a pop top caravan and live in an area that is prone to mildew. Can I use W&F on my caravan exterior and also on the rubbers and annex?
Thank you. Jess
Hi Jess,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Yes, you can use Wet & Forget on any part of your pop top caravan. Wet & Forget is safe to use on all parts of RVs and campers: metal, plastic, glass, canvas, rubber, wood, and fiberglass. The best time to apply is before the RV season. That way, when you are using the RV and have all the canvases awnings open, they can come in contact with the wind and rain, which helps the Wet & Forget work. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
Thanks!
Hi how long should i wait, before painting over a wood surface.
THANKS
Hi Michael,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. You can paint, stain or seal the wood surface once Wet & Forget has cleaned off all the moss, mold, and mildew. Wet & Forget will not interact with or affect the new paint, stain or seal. However, if you paint the wood surface before the Wet & Forget has removed all the growth, you will paint in the moss, mold and mildew. Wet & Forget cannot continue to clean once covered by another product. That is why we recommend you wait to paint until the moss, mold or mildew is gone from the surface. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you!
Also, here’s an article we wrote on the subject for more clarification.
FAQ: How soon after applying W&F can I paint my surface?
I plan to pressure wash the target area first. Do I need to WAIT UNTIL AREA IS DRY to apply Wet & Forget? Or can I apply immediately to wet surface?
Hi,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Wet & Forget is best applied to a dry surface. Wait until the area you pressure washed is dry before applying Wet & Forget. Remember, Wet & Forget is designed to clean off any organic growths such as moss, mold or mildew. You do not have to pressure wash the surface before applying Wet & Forget. Wet & Forget will clean up the surface for you–no scrubbing, rinsing or pressure washing required. If you have any further questions, please let us know. Thanks!
Q1 – it rained before W&F fully dried. Will I see any benefit from the treatment?
Q2 – will W&F treat moss on a paver walkway, where moss is growing in the sandy area BETWEEN pavers?
Hi,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. We recommend that you allow Wet & Forget to dry completely before it comes in contact with water or rainfall. If you had a light sprinkle of rain before the product dried completely, the product will still work. You might need to touch up some areas with the Wet & Forget later on because once it starts cleaning, you might notice spots where the Wet & Forget was washed away that are not cleaning up as well as the rest of the surface.
If you had a downpour of rain or water before the product dried, you will need to re-apply the Wet & Forget. Heavy rains will wash away the product completely from the surface before it has had a chance to set in. For your paver walkway, make sure you get a good saturation of Wet & Forget on all the mossy areas you are looking to clean up. Wet & Forget will work on any organic growth: moss, mold, mildew, algae and lichen. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know. Thanks!
Why do you show all these photos of locations by lakes when your product cannot be used by lakes?
Hi Mr. Galvin,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. We always recommend following our application instructions on our labeling which direct you not to apply Wet & Forget within 100 feet of lakes, ponds, rivers or streams. When using Wet & Forget on boats, make sure the boat is out of the water during application. Once the Wet & Forget dries, you can put the boat back in the water. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
Can I use Wet & Forget on s stained, pressure-treated deck? Will it harm the stain, or lighten it?
Hi Susan,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Wet & Forget Moss, Mold, Mildew & Algae Stain Remover is a very gentle product with a pH of 8. It does not contain any bleach, caustic or acidic materials. Wet & Forget will not harm, discolor, bleach any outdoor surface you apply it to, including your stained, pressure treated deck. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
I have applied your product to my Trex composite deck with no results yet
in 5 days. Will it work, should I reapply. Thanks
Hi Tom,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Wet & Forget works with the wind and rain to gently clean moss, mold and mildew from outdoor surfaces. If you have green mold or mildew, the cleaning process usually takes 3-4 weeks as long as you are getting some good rain. If you have black mold or mildew the cleaning process takes longer, usually 8 weeks. If you applied 5 days ago, it is too early to see results. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know. Thank you!
Can I use Wet and Forget in an indoor shower stall? The shower can be left to dry completely before it is used. It can then be used daily which could supply the ‘rain’. Thanks
Hi Jim,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. Wet & Forget is specifically formulated for outdoor use only. It needs contact with the wind and rain in order to work properly. We would not recommend using Wet & Forget indoors on your shower stall. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
I may of just read over it but I did not see information regarding using Wet & Forget it around plants. I need to remove moss from my greenhouse but it is in a garden and I am afraid I may overspray on some plants or it may drip down on some. Will it harm plants. Thanks so much..
Hi Barb,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. We recommend protecting plants and shrubs from over-spray when applying Wet & Forget. You can do this by either covering the plants while you apply the Wet & Forget, or you can rinse them with clear water before and after you apply in case any over-spray has landed on the foliage of the plants. Wet & Forget may cause temporary brown spotting on delicate, broad leafed foliage if it is not covered or rinsed. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let us know.
Can I use wetandforget in my basement? Everything I have read says, exterior. I am assuming that this means to NOT use inside because of the possible fumes or such. What is your recommendation for mildew/mold on concrete basement walls?
Hi Melanie,
Thanks for contacting us with your question about using Wet & Forget indoors. The product is specifically formulated for outdoor use and needs contact with the wind and rain in order to work properly. We would not recommend using it indoors.
I have a composite roof tile (cement and wood fiber) Can I use wet and forget on it?
Hi Sally,
Thanks for writing in with your question. Yes, you can use Wet & Forget on composite roof tiles. Wet & Forget is a gentle product with a pH of 8 that is safe for use on any outdoor surface. If you have further questions or concerns, please let us know.
All the info I read about Wet and Forget talks about removing stains. My wooden (ipe) deck has become very, very, very slippery when it’s wet. Since I live in the Pacific NW, it’s wet pretty much every day from October to May.
I am looking for a product to remove the slippery slime.
In past years I have pressure washed, but even with ipe, the deck is damaged by pressure washing, and I’d like to avoid it.
Will W&F remove the slippery slime from my deck? If I apply it now, just before the rainy season begins, how long should it take for the slime to be gone? There’s no real risk of temps below 32F/0C for at least 45 days.
Thank you.
Hi Andy, thanks for writing in with your question.
Yes, you can use Wet & Forget on your IPE deck. Wet & Forget is designed to work on moss, mold and mildew that causes your deck to be slippery. The temperature just needs to be above 32 degrees during application and drying time (4-5 hours).
On average, it takes 3 to 4 weeks to clean up green mold or mildew and about 8 weeks to clean up black mold or mildew as long as you are getting some good rainfall. If you have further questions, let us know.
I have 2 questions:
1) In areas that do not receive rain (fascia boards, eaves), can you use this product by using well water to wet the areas at various intervals?
2) Once applied, can you paint over it and how long should you wait?
thanks
Hi Steve, Thanks for writing in with your question. Yes, you can use Wet & Forget on surfaces that are not exposed directly to the rain, you will just need to assist the cleaning process by watering down these areas every week or two weeks. To read more, click here.
As soon as the Wet & Forget has cleaned the moss, mold or mildew, you can go ahead and paint, stain or seal the surface. Wet & Forget will not interact with the new paint, stain or sealant products.
Do you have a concentrated formula that I can use with a hose sprayer? I wish to use it to spray your product on my slate roof and was told by you that by using the current formula, the product would be to diluted to be effective.
Hi John, Thanks for contacting us. Wet & Forget is best applied with a pump up garden sprayer, backpack sprayer, or commercial agricultural sprayer with a diaphragm pump system. The reason we recommend these types of sprayers is because Wet & Forget requires a 5:1 dilution rate. Most pressure washers and hose end sprayers cannot facilitate a 5:1 and dilute the product too far. We currently do not have a hose end sprayer size available.
I would like to apply your product on natural stone front stairs. Do I have to wrap painted wrought iron rails before I spray?
Hi Catherine, Thanks for contacting us! Yes, you can use Wet & Forget on your natural stone front stairs. Since Wet & Forget is a gentle product with a pH of 8, it will not harm the painted wrought iron railings.
Hi,
Is W&F okay to use on painted pine trim and painted cedar clapboards?
Thanks,
Russ
Hi Russ,
Thanks for writing in! Yes, you can use Wet & Forget on painted pine trim and cedar clapboards. Wet & Forget works great on any outdoor surface where you have moss, mold and mildew issues.
Can I use Wet & Forget on Stucco?
Is there any way to use Wet and Forget through a pressure washer? I want to use it on my roof. It has a steep pitch. I don’t think a garden sprayer will reach far enough up on the asphalt shingles.
Hi Charles,
Thanks for contacting us with your question. If you have an attachment on your pressure washer that allows you to draw out of a pre-mixed container of Wet & Forget (without an incoming water source) you can use your pressure washer to apply it.
